Sherman Canapp,

Dr. Sherman Canapp, was the first to complete a combined DVM/MS at Kansas State University. He then completed an internship in small animal medicine and surgery at the University of Missouri followed by a three-year residency in small animal surgery at the University of Florida. Dr. Canapp is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons and a Charter Diplomate and Past President of the American College of Veterinary Sports Medicine & Rehabilitation.
Dr. Canapp is the co-founder of the Veterinary Orthopedic & Sports Medicine Group (VOSM) in Annapolis Junction, MD. Founded in 2006, VOSM was the first specialty veterinary hospital in the US dedicated specifically to orthopedics, sports medicine and rehabilitation therapy. He was also the founding National Director of Sports Medicine, Rehabilitation and RegenerativeMedicine for Thrive Pet Healthcare.
Dr. Canapp is the co-founder of Canapp Sports Medicine, LLC (CSM), a concierge orthopedic, sports medicine and regenerative medicine practice with offices in Maryland and California. Dr. Canapp routinely receives referrals for sports related injuries, arthroscopic procedures and regenerative medicine treatments from domestic and international sources. Dr. Canapp’s primary caseload is performance, sporting and working dogs. CSM also provides a virtual sports medicine platform, which delivers teleconsultations / telemedicine / tele-training to veterinarians and performance dog owners around the world. CSM offers virtual educational content, webinars as well as remote procedural assistance.
Dr. Canapp is the President and CEO of Orthobiologic Innovations, LLC (OBI), a translational medicine company that focuses on product design, development and testing of orthopedic and arthroscopic devices, instrumentation, medical systems, biologics and regenerative medicine technologies. OBI is actively involved in designing and performing clinical trials.
Dr. Canapp created the VOSM Academy, LLC educational training programs for veterinarians interested in bringing high level sports & regenerative medicine, rehabilitation therapy, diagnostic musculoskeletal ultrasound and arthroscopic procedures to their practice in the US and abroad. The VOSMA Certification Program allows clinicians to be trained and certified by Drs. Canapp and, once trained, become an official VOSM affiliate location. Certified practitioners/locations include Seattle, Philadelphia, Nashville USA, as well as locations in Finland, Japan and Australia.
Dr. Canapp established Project GO (Global Orthopedics For Animals), 501(c)(3) , a non-profit foundation (501c3) dedicated to helping animals with musculoskeletal injuries. Project GO provides support and funding to animals from various organizations including government working dogs, rescue centers and wildlife sanctuaries.

Director of Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation
Debra Canapp,
DVM, CCRT, CVA, DACVSMR
Dr. Debra Canapp began her journey in sports medicine and rehabilitation with her certification in canine rehabilitation through the Canine Rehabilitation Institute in Loxahatchee, Florida in 2005. She has since continued an exclusive career working in small animal sports and rehabilitation medicine. In order to expand the rehabilitative services offered to VOSM's patients, Dr. Canapp became certified in the art of traditional Chinese veterinary medicine and acupuncture by the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society in 2006.
In 2007 she further enhanced VOSM’s rehabilitative portfolio when she received her certification in stem cell therapy, a practice that has shown promise in returning our injured canine companions and athletes to their prior function. In 2010-2011, Dr. Canapp pursued studies and advanced training in diagnostic musculoskeletal ultrasound and is currently utilizing this tool, as a leader in the small animal field, diagnostically and therapeutically through ultrasound-guided regenerative medicine injections. In 2012, Dr. Canapp obtained the next level of expertise in her field by becoming board certified in the new American College of Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation.
Dr. Canapp’s exclusive area of interest, clinical work, lecturing and research has revolved around sports medicine and rehabilitation therapy, specifically canine sports-related injury, sport rehabilitation and performance. She has completed advanced courses in canine rehabilitation, hydrotherapy, acupuncture, sports medicine, orthopedics and stem cell therapy. Currently she is practicing sports medicine, acupuncture, musculoskeletal ultrasound and rehabilitation at VOSM.
Dr. Canapp is active in teaching rehabilitation medicine to visiting veterinary students, rehabilitation therapy certification candidates, and veterinarians. She is also engaged in several clinical trials involving sports medicine and rehabilitation and reviews for scientific veterinary journals and grant committees. Dr. Canapp has published and lectures on the subjects of osteoarthritis, sports medicine, regenerative medicine, musculoskeletal ultrasound and rehabilitation therapy at national and international continuing education meetings. Dr. Debra Canapp, along with her husband, Dr. Sherman Canapp, currently lecture both domestically and abroad on the subjects of orthopedic injuries in the sporting/working dog and the current rehabilitation techniques used to treat them.

Director of Clinical Nutrition and Diagnostic Testing
Laura Kelly,
MA, MSACN, CNS, LDN
As an experienced Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist and Certified Nutrition Specialist, Laura is an expert in clinical nutrition and the practice of functional medicine. Her work focuses on uncovering the underlying causes of disease by using the latest scientific research, laboratory testing, and critical thinking to develop evidence-based, integrative, and individualized approaches to optimal health and longevity. Her multidisciplinary background in biology, psychology, and nutrition provides a comprehensive understanding of how genetics, biochemistry, environment, and mental well-being intersect to influence overall health.
Laura holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Environmental Science from The George Washington University, along with dual Master’s degrees—a Master of Arts in Psychology and a Master of Science in Applied Clinical Nutrition. This academic foundation equipped her with expertise in anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, environmental science, and behavioral health.
In 2023, Laura founded Apeiron Wellness, a busy remote holistic health care practice providing comprehensive, collaborative healthcare. In her practice, she works with her clients to develop lasting wellness by integrating clinical assessments, functional testing, and biochemical analysis.
Laura also serves as the Director of Clinical Supervision & Education at BeWell Associates, LLC where she helps support and teach a team of current and student clinical nutritionists. She is a Certified Nutrition Specialist Supervisor providing mentorship and training for candidates completing their supervised practice hours. Laura also has extensive training and experience in the practice of nutrigenomics and has completed the American Nutrition Association's certificate program in Nutritional Genomics.
Laura specializes in complicated cases and has experience in athletic performance and optimization, allergic conditions, autoimmunity and immunology, digestive disorders, dysautonomia, cardiometabolic disease, connective tissue disease, hormone imbalance, long covid and viral infections, nutrient metabolism, mast cell activation syndrome, methylation, and mood disorders. Laura’s expertise in lab analysis and interpretation has led her clients to call her a biochemical detective.
Expanding beyond human health, Laura also works with Canine Longevity to apply functional medicine principles to canine nutrition with the goal of optimizing the well-being and longevity of dogs. By bridging science with practical application, her mission is to empower individuals and their pets with the knowledge and strategies needed for lasting wellness.
Laura believes food is a foundational part of how we care for ourselves, our family, and our communities. She is excited to extend this type of care to our canine companions. She is looking forward to offering her expertise to the Canine Longevity family to help pet parents learn about their dogs' individual needs that will enable them to make informed decisions that will keep their dog healthy and happy at every age.

Dr. Anna Marie Chwastiak is an accomplished medical reporter, producer, and content creator with a passion for health and wellness. She has built a career dedicated to educating and empowering audiences with over 12 years of experience as a medical reporter/producer for various network affiliates (KHON-TV, News12, WNEP-TV, WTXF-TV, WMAR-TV).
In 2001, she founded Facci Bella Productions, specializing in health-related content for medical associations, hospitals, and healthcare providers. Her expertise in producing informative and engaging media has made her a trusted voice in the industry.
In 2003, Dr. Anna Marie joined The Weather Channel as a health specialist. In addition to serving as on-air talent and producer, her production company created the Forecast for Health vignettes for the network, delivering valuable health insights to a broad audience.
With a background in podiatric medicine, Dr. Anna Marie has worked extensively to communicate critical health information to families and individuals, ensuring they have the knowledge needed for optimal well-being. Now, as the Content Manager for a Canine Longevity Project, Dr. Anna Marie brings her extensive media expertise to the field of animal health and wellness. She is dedicated to developing compelling, science-based content that educates pet owners and professionals on ways to enhance the lifespan and quality of life for dogs.

Todd Trepiccione
Todd Trepiccione brings a wealth of experience in production management, audio engineering, and lighting to the Canine Longevity Project. With a distinguished career spanning live events, television, and high-profile productions, Todd has worked with legendary artists such as The Beach Boys, Traffic, The Monkees, Ray Charles, and Patti LaBelle. His expertise extends beyond the entertainment industry—Todd played a pivotal role in producing the eleven Inaugural Balls for President George W. Bush and was part of the team that facilitated a historic connection between then-Vice President Al Gore and Astronaut John Glenn during Commander Glenn’s space shuttle mission.
With a keen eye for detail and a deep understanding of event logistics, Todd ensures seamless production execution, bringing his technical and creative skills to the Canine Longevity Project’s mission.

Project Manager and Team Coordinator
Grace Price
Grace graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science from the University of Maryland in 2023, while gaining hands-on experience as a technician at her local general animal hospital. Her career path began with a role at Canine Fitness Center, where she discovered her deep interest in canine rehabilitation.
Driven by a desire to specialize further in orthopedics, Grace joined the Veterinary Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Group (VOSM), where she works in various capacities, including surgery, ultrasound, rehabilitation therapy, consultation, and client communications. Her diverse experience at VOSM equipped her with a comprehensive skill set and enhanced her knowledge in both the medical and operational aspects of veterinary care.
In March 2024, Grace took on a new challenge by joining the Canapp Sports Medicine (CSM) team, assisting Drs. Debra and Sherman Canapp. In her current role, she supports the doctors in both clinical and project management duties, contributing to the development and success of the CSM projects.
Outside of her professional life, Grace enjoys spending quality time with her family, friends, and her rescue border collie, Milly. Her dedication to animal care and her commitment to continuing education in the field make her an invaluable asset to the veterinary community.
